Intro To Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege (R6S) is a tactical first-person shooter (tac FPS) title.

It was initially released back in 2015, but its eSports ecosystem didn’t really kick until the new year.

Granted, there were some top-tier events held in early 2016, but they didn’t attract much attention as the game wasn’t very balanced in its early days.

The developers worked on the game to fix the clear imbalances in the gameplay.

The end result is today’s popular game.

Check out the trailer below:

The goal of R6S is to complete a series of objectives using “operators”.

An operator is a specific class, of which only a single type can be chosen by either team.

There are two teams in play: the attackers and the defenders.

The goal of the attackers is to either kill all of the defenders or secure the objective.

The goal of the defenders is to either kill all of the attackers or prevent them from completing their objective.

Now, critics claim that all the tactics within the gameplay make for a boring, ugly watch.

But the gameplay and mechanics are the reason behind R6S’s popularity and growth in the first place.

How It Works

As with CSGO, League of Legends, etc, communication is very important in this eSport.

Teams will only win through efficient teamwork.

At the start of the round, players decide on their operators.

Each operator has a unique ability.

For example, some operators breach walls, while others scout out enemy equipment.

There are three competitive game modes in total and they are as follows:

R6S hostage

The attackers must extract the hostage from the defenders, while the defenders must prevent that from happening either by eliminating all of the attacking team or successfully defending the hostage until the time expires.

R6S bomb

The attackers are tasked with locating and defusing one of two bombs.

The defenders must stop the attackers by killing all of them or destroying the defuser.

If all attackers are killed after the defuser is planted, the defuser must still be destroyed for a defending victory.

Secure Area

R6S secure area

The defenders must protect a room with a biohazard container, while the attackers must fight their way in and secure it.

The match ends when all players from one team are killed or the biohazard container is secured by the attackers when there are no defenders in the room.

In terms of Rainbow Six betting, most betting platforms were offering odds on R6S matches in 2016.

This continues to this day, powered by the worldwide events (we’ll cover the biggest events a bit later on.)

But before we get into that, it’s important to know when and how Rainbow Six betting really got going.

History Of R6S As An Esport

The first R6S event, the ESL Pro League Year 1 Season 1, was held in February 2016.

2016 held three seasons, with the total prizepool of $350,000 across all the events on offer.

The first R6S Invitationals were held a year later, alongside the ESL Pro League.

The prizepool doubled from $350,000 to $700,000 – but this pales in comparison to the growth that followed.

The first Rainbow Six Siege Major took place in 2018, helping to boost the total prizepool to more than $1m.

This passed the $3m mark in 2019 – and this only covers the main events.

So as you can see, there is certainly a large market out there, meaning that there’s a lot of potential to make good money from Rainbow Six betting.

Biggest R6S Events

There are three events you need to be aware of:

  1. Six Invitational
  2. Six Majors
  3. Six Pro League

These are the most lucrative events, featuring only the best players in the world.

Here’s some more details on each.

Six Invitationals

The Six Invitationals are the pinnacle of Rainbow Six betting.

When the stakes get high in the playoffs, the demand and value also increases.

The first event has held back in 2017, with a prizepool of $100,000 on offer for both PC and Xbox.

Fast-forward to 2020 and the Six Invitational had at least $3m on offer, with an average audience of over 125,000.

So, as you can probably tell, this is a big deal in the competitive R6S scene.

Six Majors

The Six Majors make for an excellent alternative/accompaniment to the Invitationals for your Rainbow Six betting journey.

The 2020 Majors offered a prizepool of $125,000, with more than $60,000 going to the winning team, so there’s still a lot at stake.

That said, while they’re called Majors, they aren’t as important as the Invitationals.

They’re still popular in Rainbow Six betting circles though, and the odds are usually very good.

You can watch the matches on streaming platforms like Twitch too, so you’re never too far away from the action.

Six Pro League

This is the game’s oldest eSport event.

The Six Pro League goes on longer than the other events, but the prizepools are high and gives bettors a platform to bet throughout the year.

Of course, there’s more to R6S than just these events, but they are, by far, the best for betting on.

Plus, eSportsbooks value these events more than their lower-tier counterparts.

Ok, so now let’s cover how to bet on Rainbow Six…

How To Bet On Rainbow Six Siege

It’s pretty easy to bet on R6S online.

Of course, you must be of legal age to do so and confirm your identity to prove you are who you say you are.

So, without further ado, here’s a quick guide to explain how:

  1. Find a reputable betting site that offers R6S events to bet on, register an account and confirm your identity.
  2. Understand how sports betting works. Get familiar with the terminology, understand bankroll management, learn how odds work, etc.
  3. Navigate the site for the Rainbow Six betting options.
  4. Select your market.
  5. Place your bet
  6. Make lots of money.

It’s that simple.

Types Of Rainbow Six Bets

Everyone understands the concept of match-winner bets.

As such, they are the most popular way to bet on R6S.

But there’s an awful lot more to know than that.

R6S betting sites have all sorts of markets that you can get involved in:

Outrights, ie futures, are bets on who will win that particular event.

The odds on outrights are longer but when you predict right, you’re rewarded with a large payoff.

Map Winners

Most R6S matches are a best-of series, such as a best-of-three or best-of-five, across several maps.

There are some markets where you can bet on the team that wins on a specific map in the series.

Note that certain operators are better suited on different maps, so take that into account when creating your strategy.

Region Winners

Regions winners are also common in Rainbow Six betting.

Since R6S is a global eSport, betting on the winning region is a good alternative from betting on standard match winners and futures.

Each organization is associated with the region in which they are based.

Therefore, you’ll bet on lines like North America, Europe, Asia, etc.

The bet wins if the winner of the event comes from that region.

Tournament Finalists

These are odds on who makes it to the finals, so it’s like a future bet.

They are also available across every platform so expect to see lots of options here.

Note: betting on an underdog or dark horse can provide a lot of value.

Specials don’t take the actual match outcome into account.

They are based around what goes on in the match itself.

The most common specials are:

  • Over/under total rounds played
  • PvP kills or assists
  • Player with most kills
  • Operator vs Operator totals
  • Correct match score

Live Betting

There’s no much difference between specials and live betting.

Live bets can only be made while the match is ongoing.

These can include specials too, such as betting on which player will end with the most kills in the round.

Accumulators or parlays are not so much for value betting, but more towards having some fun.

An accumulator is a single bet that combines several matches together.

All predictions must occur in order for the bet to win.

The more selections in the accumulator, the more unlikely it is to win.

However, this also increases the payoff.

Rainbox Six Siege Betting FAQ

The main things to look out for are good customer support, lots of markets to bet on, a responsive website, easy navigation and lots of specials. These are key elements that make for an excellent eSportsbook.

It’s difficult to say. The scene is so competitive that there will always be a debate as to who the best teams and players are. There are resources like this available, but they are always subject to change.

This is probably the most asked question on this list. It doesn’t come as a total surprise either as CSGO is R6S’s direct competitor.

The answer though? It’s entirely based on your preferences. The only definitive answer we can provide is that CSGO betting is more popular than Rainbow Six betting.

Yes, R6S betting is just as safe as betting on traditional sports.

Most eSportsbooks use enhanced security measures to protect your personal and financial information from falling into the wrong hands.

Of course, if you decide to bet with unlicensed betting platforms, then you’re running the risk of being scammed or becoming a victim of fraud. So, stay safe and find a reputable eSportsbook for R6S betting.

Take your time and put the work into learning the sport. Never make a bet without knowing what you’re doing.
